Has Jeff Jackson (@JLJax12) become the greatest hire in @EdmontonOilers history?
With the hiring of Jackson the #Oilers organization has added to what was a cultural shift dating back to the hiring of Ken Holland, Holland’s 5 years did bring a lot of positive changes but we are already seeing the emergence of what Jackson has brought this organization since the beginning of the Kris Knoblauch era where you have a Head Coach who stays calm in the moment, just like Jackson has done to. Jackson could have jumped the process going into the draft & free agency but he had a plan & his plan has changed the outlook of the organization from the top down with a very successful playoff run, breaking record numbers in ticket sales in merchandise sales, many times during the playoff run every player was accessible for the media, this new age of thinking for the Oilers will be remembered for years because the mindset Jackson has for this market, the players, the team staff & most importantly the fans. Adding to an already established franchise, Jackson is building a winning organizations on the ice but also off the ice. These past 6 days he had to work hard to improve the organization for the here & now but also for the future, it’s a job that’s not done by one person it’s a job that’s done by amazing talent group of hockey minds that this organization has added since Jackson took over & that was here from when Ken Holland took over.
A @StanleyCup or multiple Cups are in the cards for this team, seeing the recent signings & trades you can see this team being successful for years to come.
The culture that’s being built in Edmonton is something that many players, staff members of other organizations will try to follow but if it can’t be followed maybe they just join the Oilers organization?
There are a few questions that still need to be answered over the next 3/4 weeks.
Who’s the next GM?
Does Paul Coffey stay on as an Assistant Coach?
Where is the health of Evander Kane, if he’s healthy does he stay in Edmonton?
Leon Draisaitl contract extension?
Jackson deserves a lot of respect & credit, Edmonton has clearly become a place everyone wants to play for & work for. It was trending that direction before but these past couple of months shows it’s much more deeper now, Edmonton is coming for the rest of the @NHL & we all need to embrace it as it’s been a hard go for sometime but man oh man is it ever fun to be a fan of this franchise now.
